Cell Phones for Kids

I have been covering a few child orientated cell phones on MobileBurn the last week or so, and these devices are really becoming a trend.

I was reserved about this for a start. I didn’t really agree with giving a child a handset that early, but now my view is a little less harsh. With the parental controls built into these devices, I no longer think that there can be too many bad habits taught through them any more. In fact, there are definite plusses to being able to contact your child and for them to contact you (obviously). I especially like the LeapFrog TicTalk’s ability for parents to send reminders to their children, such as “do your homework” and the like.

I just don’t want to see the ‘coolest cell phone’ craze spread to pre-teens too soon….
