More on Longhorn for Scoble (and everyone else)

I can’t believe it, Scoble posted a comment on my little blog! Am I really sad to get excited about that?

Scoble’s comment is on the post below, and I would like to make a little reply to it: I can’t say anything bad about Longhorn yet, I haven’t had a hands on! I refuse to say anything bad about a product that I could only form an opinion on based on what others have reported to me - that just isn’t fair.

I don’t expect Longhorn to cure cancer, but without even thinking about it I can tell you I will give it a go. I am completely aware of the fact that some parts of it will come short, and I will let you in on a little secret: unlike most people (it seems), I don’t expect a product to be perfect. I don’t even expect every feature that was promised to make in into the shipped version - that is unrealistic. What I do expect is value for money. Will there be enough in Longhorn to make me think after I have it installed and set up “gee, that was worth the money I just spent on it.”

You know what? I think it will. Call it shameful optimism, call it whatever you like, but it comes down to one thing - at the moment, I am still excited about Longhorn.

Now for the most disgraceful thing I have ever done - I would really like Scoble to read this, so here is another link to his request for some Longhorn name calling! I promise I will never use a tactic like that again…
